Libraries Inspire Learning Report by Kavan

Yesterday the 10th of march we went to the Birmingham Libraries. When we arrived we walked around to the front, because we got of the green bus at the back of the library. It was chilly because of the shade. When we got into the library we lined up to get into the theatre room.

When we got into the theatre room me, Hana and Sophie had to introduced Paganel Archives. Me and Sophie were worried, because we had never done it before, but Hana wasn’t because she had done it lots of times before. We also introduced lots of other things like Y2 and the Night Zoo keeper, Kings Heath Primary School and Wheelers Lane Primary School presentation. Me and Sophie finally got used to it.

After all the presentations, we had lunch. We had lunch outside. My knees were burning, because of the sun. After I ate my lunch me and Harvey S was pretending to jump from the library. Sophie asked Mr Philp if she can climb down the circles. That would of been dangerous because it was really high and if she had slipped she would of died.

The views from the 3rd floor terrace was inspiring. On the 3rd floor we had lunch it as very hot on the terrace with the wind blowing and the sun shining on us. Some people were scared on the terrace like Chloe.s, but I made her face her fear and got her looking of the balcony.

We went onto some travelators and lifts to get onto the 9th floor. The 9th floor was called the Shakespeare Memorial room everyone decided to look out of the window but you couldn’t see much out of there but only a little bit.

When we were coming back down the travelator to get our coats a man was sleeping on the chair nearer the travelator. When we got to the studio theatre it was time to go.

On the 10th of March 2014 Year 6 and Year 2 went to the library in Town.

Once we arrived at the Library, Hana and Mac had to lead the way. We all followed them into a room. Hana, Kavan and Sophie all introduced us to all the presentations that went on. There was a load of presentations done by Wheelers Lane Primary School. Personally  I think some of the children from the other school were a bit too quiet. At 11 o’clock’ me, Maddison , Nicole and Chloe S. all did a presentation.

We went upstairs to eat lunch. We were so high up. I sat next to Lourdes and Karla to eat our lunch. After we ate our lunch we got to stay on the balcony. Me, Lourdes and Jamie got a picture taken next to the glass wall on the balcony.

We went into a lift it was very nice looking inside (they had mirrors on the walls, lights on the walls and laminate flooring).

Year 2 had the front row and half of the second row. My class had the third row and a quarter of the fourth row. we watched some presentations.

After about 10 minutes Wheelers Lane Primary School came in to the theatre room and after a while year 2 did a presentation about their Night Zoo animals. The Night Zookeeper had a website  up.

After lunch we had groups and I was in Mrs Tonks group. We visited the Shakespeare Room on the 9th floor. Afterwards, we visited another room and there was a book which is worth 8 million pound and there was a presentation that you could listen to.

At ten thirty (in the morning), we arrived at the new Birmingham library in town. That day Maddison , Chloe.s and I were doing a presentation and dance based on Bridgit Mendler. We had to wait a while to get into the theatre, but it gave us time to have a look around the main part. Finally, we sat in the theatre - my nan was there to watch. Up to then my highlight of the day was actually doing the presentation and the dance; my heart was thumping but when it was over I was relieved.

Not long after we had our lunch - on the third floor terrace. It was so hot! It was a really exciting lunch, we could see all of the views and everything seemed to be so small. We had about a half an hour lunch and a very quick run around. Maddison and I played a game called ` what if’. It was full of laughter.

Right at the end of our day we had a get together in the theatre. Holly and Lourdes handed out all of the rewards. My group ( Madison , Chloe.s and me) won the reward for best presentation we were so proud of ourselves. We could not believe that we won the reward. Each class including Wheelers Lane Primary were given a box of chocolates. That is a lot of chocolates - in total seven boxes of chocolates was handed out.

We went the  the gold dome at the top.

When we got to the Library, we immediately went to the theatre to see
some presentations. While we were there, there was another school
called Wheelers Lane. They did some presentations too.

After the presentations, we went on the terrace and ate our packed lunch.
It was beautiful weather and we also took lots of photos. After lunch we played and then we went back inside.

Not long after we went to level nine and looked at the most expensive book in the library, which was worth 8,000,000 pounds. Also there was the oldest book in the library.

Libraries Inspire Learning Report by Karla

The day started off with some presentations from: Wheelers Lane Primary School, Paganel Primary School’s Year 6 and 2. Wheelers Lane were talking about their favourite authors, books and what libraries will be in the future. They were also talking about how books help you to learn and how to be educated. We were talking about our Paganel Archives Project. Nicole, Maddison, Chloe K and Chloe S did a presentation about Bridget Mendler and they also did a dance called ‘Ready Or Not.’ We watched a video by a girl who had been shot in the head. Her name was Malala. She opened the Birmingham Library and she was talking about her school in Pakistan. Wheelers Lane mentioned authors like: J.K Rowling, Roald Dahl, Francessca Simon and much more. Year 2 presented and talked about their project about the Night Zookeeper.

As we came out of the theatre I saw a man listening to some music on his Ipod while he was reading a history book and he was dancing. Because he was dancing, it made me chuckle ( laugh ). We also saw an Army man just sitting in his seat doing nothing at all it was strange/weird hilarious.

The last thing was the gifts, Wheelers Lane, year 6 and year 2 from Paganel got a prize of HEROES chocolates. Holly and Lourdes handed them out while they was standing in the spotlight. Some children from Wheelers Lane got a prize too. They were relieved. Nicole and her dance group won special prizes too, Lourdes and Holly got a box of chocolates each. I was so jealous!

Yesterday, Year 6 and Year 2 from Paganel school, went on a school trip to the library in town. Me, Hana and Kavan were presenting the morning. At first I was nervous, but once I had done it for the first time I was fine with doing it again. Soon after, it was time for break, we all had biscuits: me, Hana and Kavan were handing them out - our class ate loads!

In the afternoon Holly and Lourdes were presenting. We all split into groups after lunch and my group went to the 9th level - we had to go in a lift. I was worried because I had got stuck in them three times.

After that, some people won prizes for there presentaitons and then we got on the coach and went back to school. On the coach me and Hana sat at the top in the front of the coach.

The great Travellator Pencil Disaster at #kmBrum

Once we arrived at the Library of Birmingham we made our way into the theatre, and watched some amazing presentations by Wheelers Lane primary School, TNT Ladywood and us (Paganel). When the morning presentations had came  an end, we had a break and ate some biscuits. After the short break, Wheelers Lane doid some fabulous presentations about their favorite authors: Roald Dahl , Jacqueline Wilson and JK Rowling .

The 9th floor was amazing - it was all about William Shakespeare. We saw some very old books (some didn’t even have covers on the front or back) they must have been very special, because they were all in glass containers. There was so much amazing artwork to discover, and many sculptures. There was many comfortable chairs and some very interesting maps.

Sasha and I were helping Mr Philp tidy up the archive room, and me and Sasha offered to carry the boxes for  him, while going down the travelators all the pencils came rolling out of the box ,so there was Mr Philp literally on his hand and knees picking them up in case the pencils got stuck in the travelators .

When we arrived at the Birmingham  library in town we went in to  the library theatre. In there we were watching and listening to some really interesting presentations some of the presentation were from another school (Wheelers Lane Primary School). Their presentation were all very good even the ones from another school. Soon after all of the presentation we had a little break. in the break time some of the year six children gave out lots of biscuits to everyone. After that we carried on with lots of more presentations.

Then when we came out of the theatre we went for dinner. We had it outside of the library the weather was shining bright and it was lovely day. Once we had finished our dinner we went back to the theatre. It was a really nice day.
We went to the 9th floor in the library and went to the Shakespeare Room. The view was lovely - I loved it. I really recommend you to go to to the library.

On Monday 11th  March year 6 from the school Paganel Primary School visited the Library of Birmingham. My favourite part of the library was watching the presentations that some children from Wheelers Primary school did. The best presentation of all I thought was the presentation from TNT Ladywood on the news.

The next other thing that I found really interesting was the Shakespeare room because it told you allot about William Shakespeare. In some of the room it told you about the famous poems.

My most favourite part of all was hearing from the two wonderful women who helped make a library in the country Ethiopia. I think that it was really kind of them to help make a library there.

Libraries help children to fill their heads with imagination and to inspire them to write great stories!

Yesterday, we went to the Library with Year 2.We went in the the enormous green bus. As we got there, Larcia and Amy were hilarious! In the morning we watched and listened carefully to the fantastic presentations!.We watched some presentations about Libraries from Wheelers' Lane Primary and we watched an brilliant presentation about Bridgit Mendler - the famous singer! Libraries help children to fill their heads with imagination and to inspire them to write great stories!.

In the afternoon we looked at some great pictures from the past when Paganel first opened. The children had punishments like 12 smacks on the bottom with the cane!.There was even an row of girls with playing the recorder they looked happy and their clothes looked different from what we wear now. Libraries also help children with their education and some books are written by famous authors like Jacqueline Wilson, Jk Rowling and Roald Dahl! My favourite author is Jacqueline Wilson because her books are truly brilliant and millions of girls enjoy reading her books.

At last we looked at the Shakespeare room and there was a statue of William Shakespeare . William Shakespeare was an brilliant man who wrote plays and scripts like Romeo and Juliet. It was very fascinating and I loved the intricate patterns on the ceiling.

On the 10th March 2014, we went to Birmingham Library in town. After we jumped off the coach, we were taken to the library theatre , and were introduced to many presentations from Wheelers Lane Primary School. We were shown various selection of fantastic presentations: some about our school archives, some about reading ( what their favourite book was) and also a very creative presentation from Nicole,Chloe and Maddison- which was a about a popular singer, Bridgit Mendler.( they even did their own dance!) A few moments later we were then shown a incredible clip from Malala- who is a inspiration for all of us, as she opened this outstanding library. Because we had a very long time watching clips and presentations , we were given a snack which was some scrumptious biscuits. They were delicious!

After a lovely snack, we were split into two teams. One with Nikki and the other with Rachel- I was with Nikki. First of all we were taken to the ninth floor, by a lift with mirrors and 2 doors, to the Shakespeare  Room. We were told that it was made first from the old library. We were in this splendid room with beautiful wooden carvings decorated across the walls- it looked very gorgeous. As we were approaching back, we saw a man sleeping on of of the chair! If looked very awkward, but also very funny.

Once the whole class arrived, we were told to do some write some things on a piece of paper. The first step was to find evidence that long time ago in Paganel , kids use to sleep in beds. After a short time I found the picture, it was a row of rail beds with small head peeping out. After that was completed, the next step was to find a picture that you think is your favourite. MIne was a picture showing a group of girls, having a recorder in their hands ,It was my favourite because I play the recorder too. It`s a nice, fun instrument to play and easily learn. It was time to go.We had an exceptional day, with full of excitement and fun. It will become a delightful memory to remember.

On Monday tenth we went to the new Library in town we got there about ten. Once we got there we had a amazing assembly we had loads of presentations and before 11 we had a little break then after me and my friends Nicole, Chloe .s and Chloe .k we did a presentation about someone called Bridgit Mendler an actress and singer, and we also did a dance to one of her songs “Ready or Not.” It went amazingly well: everyone absolutely loved it and we absolutely loved it too!

After the assembly we proudly walked up like explorers on to the Third Terrace  for lunch. The view was fantastic. We were high, but not as high as the top - now that`s high! After we ate we slowly walked backed down to the hall where we got into groups and then we would go and explore the library it was fun. First we got into groups me and some others were in Mrs. Tonks group and we went up the escalator  and we came by the glass lift (which we didn’t go in because it was broken).

After that we strolled into the study area and they have mini microbes they are things that you put on these little projectors and they have extremely old news papers that are on them.

Then after we been in there we strolled into the massive book area with lots and lots of books and then  we walked out of there and we strolled into this room with maps in then we had a little look at the maps.  After that we walked around a having a look. We had a look at the Shakespeare Room and Morgan pretended to pick his nose but it was the statue’s nose - it was really funny! We also saw the view from the top it was an epic view. We saw everything. Then after we had a fabulous walk round. Finally we had to go back to the hall for some prizes.

The prizes were for the best presentation and we won the creative presentation which is a Minecraft code which we all are sharing and two of us got a wooden pencil case with coloured pencils and we were extremely chuffed because we never thought we was going to win it. Then we left the building, got back on the coach and discussed what we liked about the day and whether we enjoyed it.

We went to the Birmingham Library yesterday. It was really nice and big. When we went in we went to the theatre. The theatre was on the bottom floor. There is nine (9) floors. There were lots of things there to help us get to the top floors and back down again: escalators, lifts and stairs. The room was really big, but it was really fun. I got really nervous because I was so high up - I hate heights.

On the 4th floor there were loads of books. It was a  circle  room; there was a working room. We went  in the working room. You should go there.
We went to the 9th floor - it was about Shakespeare.  It was a lovely view (I loved it). You would like it as well. You should go there and look at it, but it is not as quiet as any other library.

Yesterday Year 2 and Year 6 went to the Library of Birmingham . Once we got to the library ( on the green bus ) We made our way to the theatre. When we got to the colossal theatre we had to queue up. We all had to sit down in seats, I sat next to my best friends mac and Morgan. After some presentations we had a break and ate some delicious biscuits. After that we watched even more presentations. Once all the presentations finished we had lunch.

We had our lunch on the third floor terrace (we  had a beautiful view.) At lunch I sat next to Morgan and Mac again. I made Mac laugh non-stop. Morgan accidentally sprayed Ribena on me.

After lunch we went to the Shakespeares Memorial Room, we used the lift to get there (on the 9th floor) and stairs to go down. After that we went to the Library of Cultures. There was a book worth 7 million pounds. Next we saw what a film reel is. I got a thumbs up by someone I don’t know. After all that we went back to the theatre,

After all the other things happened in the theatre, we finally went home.

Libraries Inspire Learning Report by Morgan

When we arrived in the town library we went to the theatre to see our school’s year 2 and Wheelers Lane primary do some presentations about what libraries would be like in the future and if it still would exist because of all the technology overtaking the countries. They also said that libraries and books could save the world because of the knowledge filling our brains instead of computer games. After the lectures which were very good we watched some movies that Wheelers Lane Primary had set  for us. After the amazing movies we had a short break of snacks and cookies and then we carried on watching the amazing  presentations and after that we went into different groups, saw lots of great artifacts and then went back into the theatre and saw people get their awards and then we left at 2:00pm.

Yesterday we went to the Birmingham Library in town. In the Library we went to the Studio Thearter and watched a welcome video and the tour of the library. We also listened to lots of presentation they were very good.

After that we went up to the 3rd floor and ate our dinner on the balcony. It was really scary because I hate heights! We could see the top of nearly every building, it took about 15 minutes to eat my lunch it was delicious.

Straight after that we went up to the very top floor (the 9th floor ) on that floor we went to see the Shakespeare Memorial room, it looked very old!

The great travelator pencil disaster at Libraries Inspire Learning

Once we arrived at the Library of Birmingham, we walked into a theatre. We watched loads of presentations from different schools: Wheelers Lane, TNT Ladywood and us (Paganel). Our presentations were about Catseyes(a filming group), and we also done a presentation about our Archive room. After we had a break, we ate some of my favourite biscuits. One school girl from Wheelers Lane had 5 biscuits; she must of been hungry. Then there was loads more presentations, there was so many different authors mentioned: Roald Dahl, Jacqueline Wilson and J.K Rowling.

After we had our lunch, and we went into two different groups. The group I was in went onto the 9th floor(William Shakespeare Memorial). There was millions of amazing artwork: books, picture and sculptures. Also there was loads of comfortable chairs, and I went on a massive computer, which had shown a map. The view was extremely beautiful, and you could see everything.

Lilymai and I went down the travelator, along with Mr Philp (my teacher). Me, Lilymai and Mr Philp were carrying heavy boxes, filled with loads of stuff. Lilymai had the box with the pencils in, and we were going down the travelator. All of a sudden pencils started to roll down the travelator. Mr Philp was on his hands and knees trying to pick them all up, some were starting to get stuck. Finally we picked up all the pencils and went back into the theatre.

Holly did people watching at Libraries Inspire Learning

Yesterday on the 10th of March we went on a trip to the Birmingham library in town. We had to catch the bus it was year 6 and year 2.

Once we arrived we walked into the theatre and we watched lots of presentations, and Nicole, Maddison and Chloe Spurrier all did a Bridgit Mendler presentation and did a dance to one of her songs: “Ready Or Not.” It was good. Then we had a break and ate some biscuits and had a drink.

We had been walking for a while now and as we passed there was a man, who looked he was falling asleep, but we carried on walking to find the art gallery of culture. As we came he had fallen asleep but had taken off his shoe and just fell asleep.

Finally we reached the top of the 9th floor and we were really high up. As I looked out of the window I saw this couple kissing it was so gross, but as we looked at the Shakespeare statues, I saw someone pretend to stick his finger up Shakespeare’s nose. It was so funny.

Libraries Inspire Learning by Jude (Y6)

We got on the green bus, and went to town. After the journey we entered the library, and went into the the studio theatre. In the studio theatre we seen presentations and videos. There was another school there called Wheelers Lane primary school. When all the presentations and videos were done we went and had lunch.

At lunch there was a great view of the city. Everyone was looking at the view while having pictures taken.  Everyone was chatting and being loud. It was a good job we were having our lunch outside. After lunch we went back into the studio theatre. We were split into two groups to have a tour of the library.

I really enjoyed the William Shakespeare memorial room. I especially enjoyed it, because it was very fascinating. The room was designed beautifully. The statues were carved carefully.
